Elementary ELA Pilot Progress and Update
Teachers and students in our elementary classrooms are participating in a curriculum adoption process by piloting two curricula for review and selection:

  • Amerikan Okuma Şirketi
  • Core Knowledge Language Arts

We are now a few months into implementation. Throughout the process, teachers have received professional development, on-site and virtual coaching, and planning support.  We have been collecting survey data from our pilot teachers, students, and most recently from guardians at parent teacher conferences.  This data helps monitor implementation needs, challenges, and celebrations.  If you are interested in reading more about the pilots, click okuyun.

We will continue to gather data from the pilot implementation over the next few months to make an informed curriculum selection in early February.

Selection Committee will be formed to review ELA curricula and recommend 2 programs to pilot.

June-August 2021 TBD
PD for pilot curricula TBD prior to the start of SY21.
August 2021-January 2021
Pilot Committee will form to implement  the top 2 curricula. Feedback from stakeholders will be gathered, data analyzed, and further review of curricula will be evaluated to prepare for a final decision.

Final recommendation will be made on or before February 4th.
February-May 2022
Presentation and Introduction to chosen program K-5 February 18th PD day.

Keeping Up with Colonial
Videotaped “Keeping up with Colonial” segments will resume in January. Please submit your ideas for visually compelling programs/projects or other school activities occurring in your schools/classrooms so the months, dates and times can be planned for the remainder of the school year. Add OR Verify your Home Email by 12/15/2021
Employees must ACT NOW to update Personal Information in Employee Self Service to ADD or VERIFY a valid Home Email address is in their employee record. Your Home email will be saved as your unique Okta username to register for your my.delaware identity.  See the steps below to ADD or VERIFY

1) Log in to DE-SSO or click on the tile in id.delaware dashboard.

2) Click on Employee Self Service

3) Click on Personal Information

4) Validate your Business Email if you were issued one (contact HR Rep to update, if needed).

5) Add or verify your Home Email Address which must be:

  • UNIQUE to you,
  • not shared, and
  • not a state-issued business email address (this includes .edu – example collect issues emails)
  • You can choose any of your email addresses as “preferred”, including “Home.” Your chosen “preferred” email address receives important State communications, including benefits information.

6) Save any changes.

Name and Address Verification Reminder
While in the Employee Self Service, please review to confirm your mailing address is current.  Verification of your mailing address will minimize any delays in your receiving tax form W-2s and 1095-Cs.  If you have opted to receive these forms electronically, communications will be sent when they become available in the new calendar year.  If you have name change, please contact Dominique Amos – dominique.amos@colonial.k12.de.us.

Health and Safety Reminders
Anyone who is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms ve is awaiting test results must not report to work until a negative test result is received.  Additionally, unvaccinated employees who have been in close contact to a positive COVID-19 case must not report to work until cleared.  If you have any questions on whether or not you should report to work, please contact your supervisor before reporting to the building.

Vaccination Mandate Updates
All Colonial Employees are expected to be using the COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing Certification application in DSC to either

The COVID-19 Team has been validating vaccinated employee data.  Beginning the week of December 6th, we will begin to validate weekly testing.

NOTE: Per Governor Carney’s mandate, employees who have not submitted vaccination information in the DSC application need to complete haftalık COVID-19 testing.  Employees who need a COVID-19 test on a different date or time should visit Delaware'in COVID Test Sitesi to find a location convenient to you.

COVID-19 Testing Updates and Reminders

Çocuk Gelişimi Merkezi, bu belirsiz zamanlarda lisanslı bir terapist ile gizli, 1: 1 tele sağlık danışmanlığına katılmak isteyen Koloni çalışanlarına hizmetlerini sunmaktadır. Kolonyal çalışanların bu hizmete erişmek için bölgenin EAP programından geçmelerine gerek YOKTUR. Çocuk Gelişimi Merkezi'nin sahibi ve işletmecisi William Penn mezunu Lisa Savage ve 8 Colonial okulunda ve Delaware Eyaleti'ndeki birçok okulda hizmet veriyor. Çocuklarla çalışmaya ek olarak, seçilmiş CCD terapistleri yetişkinlerle de çalışır ve stresi yönetme ve zor koşullarla başa çıkma becerimizi desteklemek için tasarlanmış kanıta dayalı uygulamalarda uzmanlaşırlar.
